The Grand Final was held in Room W at the World Trade Organization on Saturday, 3rd May 2008. This was the most fiercely contested Grand Final in the history of the EMC². Both teams rose to the occasion and it was obvious that they had undertaken substantial additional preparation for the Geneva competition since participating in the Selection Rounds.
The seven members of the EMC² FOR Grand Final Panel (Mr Alejandro Jara Deputy Director General of the WTO; Dr Werner Zdouc - Director of WTO Appellate Body Secretariat); Dr Gabrielle Special Counsel to the Director General of the WTO; Professor (Dr) Shin-yi Peng 2008 Case Author, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan; Professor (Dr) Peter Van Den Bossche Maastricht University, Holland; Professor Mary Footer Nottingham University, England; and Dr Arthur Appleton representing World Trade Institute, Switzerland)were extremely impressed with the quality and congratulated all the participants on their indepth understanding of the Case and the difficult telecommunications issues, as well as their commitment to the competition which resulted in outstanding oral presentations.
